Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Aramis Garcia first reached the majors with the San Francisco Giants in 2018, then made a number of short stints in the majors over the following seasons without ever claiming a regular job. The Giants were actually the second team to draft him when they took him in the 2nd round of the 2014 amateur draft out of Florida International University; he had previously been selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round of the 2011 amateur draft after graduating from high school, but had declined their offer. He showed some good power in first few minor league seasons, hitting 15 homers in 2015 and 17 in 2017. He first played in AAA in 2018, with 10 games for the Sacramento River Cats of the Pacific Coast League after spending the bulk of the season in AA with the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the Eastern League.

In his first taste of the majors in 2018, Aramis hit .286 with 4 homers in 19 games. He then hit .271 with 16 homers and 55 RBIs in 89 games for Sacramento in 2019, before hitting .143 in 18 games for San Francisco. He then spent all of 2020 at the Giants' alternate training site while the minors were shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic, then was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers that November. His stay in that organization was brief, though, as on February 6, 2021, he was shipped to the Oakland Athletics alongside long-time shortstop Elvis Andrus in return for Khris Davis, Jonah Heim and Dane Acker. He and Heim were similar players at the time, catchers who had hit well in the minors but who were still trying to find their footing in the majors, but Heim would turn into a regular and an All-Star with Texas, while Garcia would continue to shuffle between AAA and the majors. He hit .205 in 32 games for Oakland that year with 3 homers and 7 RBIs, and .268 in 30 games for the AAA Las Vegas Aviators. Sean Murphy was the starter for the A's, and they also had veteran Yan Gomes to spell him, limiting the opportunities for Aramis to play, even though by the end of that season, he had hit 9 homers in just 193 big league at-bats. He was on the move again after the season, signing as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds.

He had his busiest season at the major league level in 2022, with 47 games and 108 at-bats for the Reds, but also had his worst season with the bat, hitting just .213 with 1 homer and 4 RBIs, for an OPS+ of 40. He then signed with the Philadelphia Phillies after the season, but spent all of 2023 in the minors, mainly with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, where he hit .251 with 14 homers and 44 RBIs in 53 games. 2024 was a bit of a disaster, as he hit just .159 in 76 games for Lehigh Valley. He did get a brief call-up to Philadelphia in September, but went 0 for 7 in 3 games. After the season, he signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks and was assigned to the Reno Aces of the PCL. On May 20th, he made the news when he hit what was the longest home run in the minors that season, a blast that travelled 484 feet at Greater Nevada Field in Albuquerque, NM; the ball was hit so hard against lefty Jack O'Loughlin that the outfielders barely moved. It was already his 8th long ball of the season.
