American Southwest Conference
The American Southwest Conference (ASC) is a Division-III conference whose member schools are located in Texas. Formerly there were schools in the conference in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
Announcement of the formation of a new conference in the south and southwestern United States was made in May 1996. The new league included former members of the Texas Intercollegiate Athletic Association (TIAA) and other institutions outside the Texas border. Founding members of the ASC are Austin College, Hardin-Simmons, Howard Payne, McMurry, Mississippi College, Sul Ross State, University of Dallas and University of the Ozarks.
Sul Ross State University left for the Lone Star Conference in NCAA Division-II for the 2025 season. Concordia University Texas, McMurry University, & University of the Ozarks all left the ASC for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) for the 2025 season. University of Texas at Dallas moved to the Lone Star Conference and Division II for the 2025-2026 school year while LeTourneau University moved to the SCAC in 2025-2026. McMurry and Schreiner both return to the ASC in 2026-2027 school year.
