Biographical Information[edit]

Akiva Epstein has been on the Israeli national team.

Epstein came to Israel after high school to study, becoming a citizen. [1] He had a 4.20 ERA for Israel in the 2025 U23 European Championship. [2] He then suited up for Israel's senior team in the 2025 European Championship. He debuted against France, relieving DJ Sharabi with a 8-3 lead in the 8th. He retired Paolo Brossier and Léo Jiminian. Felix Brown reached on an error and Ernesto Martínez Jr. coaxed a walk but Epstein retired former Red Sox farmhand Frédéric Hanvi to end the inning. In the 9th, he got Mael Zan and Fabian Kovacs and seemed poised for a save but Julien Monks singled, Miguel López walked and Brossier singled to cut it to 8-4. Former big leaguer Bubby Rossman took over and closed the door on France. Epstein also pitched 2 1/3 innings against Germany, succeeding Sharabi in the 3rd with a 2-2 tie and allowing 3 hits, a walk and 2 runs (one earned) while striking out two (Simon Bäumer and Lou Helmig); Alex Katz relieved with Israel ahead but they dropped a 10-9 decision.
