Biographical Information

Julien Monks has played in French Division I and for the French national team.

Monks was born in the US but grew up France, where he began playing baseball; he has dual citizenship. He played for the French U15 teams in 2016 and 2017. Making it to France's top league at age 17, he eked out a .185/.299/.200 line for the Montpellier Barracudas. The 2020 French season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he hit .250/.340/.300 in 2021. In the 2021 U23 European Championship, he was 2 for 10 with a run and 4 RBI.

Coming to America for college, he slashed .327/.385/.409 for Ventura College in 2021-22. Transferring to Franklin Pierce for 2023, he produced at a .233/.372/.325 rate. In the 2023 U23 European Championship, he batted .294/.350/.471 with 5 runs in 5 games for the 3rd-place French entry. He tied for 8th in runs. That summer in France, he hit .341/.442/.386. He would've been 7th in average had he qualified, between Dorian Bouniol and Paolo Brossier, and 10th in OBP. The Barracudas won the pennant.

In 2024, he slipped to .180/.245/.303 for Franklin Pierce. In his limited time back in France, he was at .311/.358/.422. In '25, he was very good in college, batting .348/.425/.486 with 33 runs and 32 RBI in 38 games. He was 4-for-9 with two walks, two runs and a RBI in the 2025 U23 European Championship. In his time in France, he hit .342/.391/.474 with 15 RBI in 18 games. He would've been 10th in average had he qualified. He then made France's team for the 2025 European Championship, the only newcomer on their team (the other 15 teams in the event had at least two players who were new to their senior national team). He was still their starter at the hot corner. Hitting 6th in their opener against Israel, he singled off Justin Alintoff his first time up, one of four hits that day, pacing his team in a loss. He hit .333/.370/.333 for the Euros, with one run and one RBI in six games, handling 11 chances without an error. He tied for the team lead with 8 hits, even with minor league veterans José Paula and Ernesto Martínez Jr. as well as Brossier.
