2017 Taiwan Series
Managed by new skipper Cory Snyder, Chinatrust was 30-27-3 in the first half (second place) and 23-37 (last place) in the second half. The Brothers were led on offense by 21-year-old Tzu-Hao Chen (.336/.403/.622), Tzu-Hsien Chan (.350/.403/.610) and Chih-Hsien Chiang (.335/.379/.590). Bryan Woodall (13-8, 3.63) again led the staff.
The Monkeys were guided by I-Chung Hong. They were 43-16-1 in the first half and 35-25 in the second half to win both halves; that allowed them to start the Series with a 1-0 lead. Po-Jung Wang (.407/.491/.700, 31 HR, 107 R, 101 RBI) won the second Triple Crown in CPBL history, while Yu-Hsien Chu hit .308/.399/.610 and Chun-Hsiu Chen .321/.400/.546. The Z-Z combo was top as Zack Segovia (16-5, 4.20) tied for the league win lead and Zeke Spruill (15-4, 2.56) was even better. Yu-Hsun Chen (2-4, 37 Sv, 2.63) set a CPBL record for saves.
- October 28: Brothers 8, Monkeys 5. The Brothers tied the Series at one by winning the opener. Lamigo's Hung-Yu Lin's sacrifice fly scored Yin-Lun Lan in the first but Woodall would allow only one more run in the next six innings. In the top of the second, the Brothers got a two-run double from Tzu-Hao Chen off Spruill. The Brothers got four runs in the last three innings.
- October 29: Monkeys 14, Brothers 5. The Lamigo offense exploded in game 2. The losing team again scored first, as the Brothers got to Darin Downs for three in the first, with Chih-Hao Chang hitting a two-run homer, but Lamigo pounded Orlando Román and the bullpen, starting with losing hurler Ta-Yuan Kuo. DH Hung-Yu Lin had 3 hits and four RBI, 2B Yen-Wen Kuo 4 hits and 4 RBI, RF Lan 3 hits and 3 runs and LF Wang 3 runs and 3 walks.
- October 31: Monkeys 19, Brothers 3. The Monkeys were even more dominant in game 3 at Taichung Intercontinental Stadium to take a 3-1 lead. The crowd included Premier William Lai. SS Cheng-Fei Lin went 3 for 5 with a record 8 RBI, including a 3-run homer in the first to set the tone. 1B Chun-Hsiu Chen was 4 for 4 with four runs and two RBI. Segovia got the win, allowing 3 runs in 8. Cheng-Yu Hung was roughed up for 8 runs in 2 1/3 IP and the Brothers used 8 pitchers, who allowed 21 hits, 6 walks and 19 runs (17 earned).
- November 2: Monkeys 4, Brothers 2. DH Hung-Yu Lin got things going early with a solo homer off Woodall to lead off the second, then SS Cheng-Fei Lin singled in 1B Chun-Hsiu Chen. In the bottom of the inning, CF Chih-Hao Chang tagged Yi-Cheng Wang for a homer, the only run Wang allowed in six innings (3 H, 6 K) as he got the win. In the top of the 6th, Chun-Hsiu Chen (3 for 3 with a walk today; Series MVP after hitting .714) drove in LF Po-Jung Wang and Cheng-Fei Lin doubled in Hung-Yu Lin for his 10th RBI of the Series. In the 7th, Chih-Hao Chang again homered in a losing cause, taking Chun-Hsiung Chu yard. In the 9th, the Brothers got two on against Yu-Hsun Chen but he struck out Chun-Sheng Huang to end it.
