Yuto Morikoshi was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 4th round of the 2010 NPB draft, and he was 1-for-8 in 2013 after staying in the minors for 2 years. He went 1-for-7 in 2014, and the Dragons released him. Morikoshi signed with the Hanshin Tigers, but he only played 9 games combined in the next two seasons because the Tigers already had star shortstop Takashi Toritani. He was an assistant coach for Meijo University in 2021, and the Dragons named him their new minor league infield fielding coach in 2022.

Overall, Morikoshi hit .115/.225/.141 with 9 hits in 94 games in 6 seasons in NPB.
