Biographical Information

Yutaro Osaki played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Osaki hit .313 and won the batting title of the 2005 All-Japan University Baseball Championship Series. He was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 6th round of the 2006 NPB draft, but he only got 30 at-bats combined in his first two seasons. He hit .311/.353/.443 in the minors in 2008, and he was 4th in batting in the Eastern League (between Haruki Kurose and Yusuke Kajimoto), 2nd in hits (6 behind Daisuke Nakai) and led in doubles with 22. Osaki played 75 games with a .275/.337/.369 batting line in 2009, and he hit .242/.288/.387 in 2010.

The Tokyo native improved to .306/.375/.361 in 2011, and he was 3-for-11 in the 2011 PLCS; the Lions were swept by the Softbank Hawks. Osaki was Seibu's starting right fielder in 2012, and he played 107 games with a .269/.326/.346 batting line. He hit .250/.305/.299 in 2013, and he recorded a .248/.287/.307 batting line in 2014. Osaki slumped to .219/.277/.301 in 2015, and he only got 5 more at-bats for the top team before announced his retirement in 2017.

Overall, Osaki hit .257/.313/.332 with 243 hits and 5 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
