Biographical Information[edit]

Utility infielder Haruki Kurose played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Kurose was drafted by the Seibu Lions in the 2nd round of the 2003 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm League in his first three seasons. He was 2-for-13 in 2007, and he went 8-for-38 in 2008. His batting line was .313/.377/.457 with a league-leading 19 steals in the Eastern League, and he was 3rd in batting (between Dai-Kang Yang and Yutaro Osaki). Kurose also hit .196/.224/.232 in 17 games for the West Oahu CaneFires in the winter. He then hit .200/.200/.200 for the top team in 2009, and he was 5-for-18 in 2010. The Lions then traded him to the Hanshin Tigers for Hirotaka Egusa, and he only got 2 at-bats in the next two seasons. He was 3-for-13 in 2013, and he announced his retirement in 2015.
