Biographical Information[edit]
Yukio Ito played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.
Ito signed with the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1962, and he had a 2.70 ERA in 5 appearances in his first season. He then pitched 19 games with a 4.19 ERA in 1963, and he recorded a 4.39 ERA in 37 relief outings in 1964. Ito went 2-4 with a 3.19 ERA in 1965, and he had a 3-8 record with a 4.60 ERA in 1966. However, his ERA rose to 6.95 in 14 games in 1967, and the Buffaloes released him. He signed with the Hanshin Tigers, and he allowed 5 runs in 9 innings in 1968. Ito then joined their rotation in 1969, and he was 8-4 with a 2.56 ERA. He went 6-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 1970, and his ERA was 3.36 with a 2-3 record in 1971. Ito went 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 6 games in 1972, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Ito was 27-27 with a 3.66 ERA, struck out 328 and pitched 642 1/3 innings in 11 seasons in NPB.
