Biographical Information[edit]

Yudai Deguchi played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Deguchi signed with the Yomiuri Giants after he went undrafted in the 1989 NPB draft, and he spent his first four seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He played 73 games with a .222/.282/.361 batting line in 1996, but he only got 6 at-bats combined in the next two seasons and the Giants released him in 1998. Deguchi signed with the Daiei Hawks, but he still stayed in the minors as he only had 18 at-bats combined in the next three seasons. He finally get some chances after Koji Akiyama retired in 2002, and he crushed 6 homers with a .268/.337/.444 batting line in 57 games. Deguchi played 60 games with a .256/.321/.432 batting line in 2003, and he went 2-for-6 in the 2003 Nippon Series; the Hawks beat the Hanshin Tigers in 7 games. Deguchi hit .218/.331/.347 in 61 games in 2004, but he only got 6 at-bats in 2005 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Deguchi hit .236/.319/.388 with 129 hits and 13 homers in 11 seasons in NPB.
