Biographical Information

Yasuo Kato was drafted by the Hankyu Braves in the 4th round of the 1975 NPB draft, and he only got one at-bat before he announced his retirement in 1982. He later became the battery coach for Hankyu from 1983 to 1985 and for the Chunichi Dragons from 1987 to 1991. Kato then coached the Hanshin Tigers from 1992 to 1994, and he returned to the Dragons as their battery coach from 1995 to 2003. The Tigers named him their minor league battery coach from 2004 to 2009.
