Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Winston Santos was signed by the Texas Rangers as an international amateur free agent from the Dominican Republic on July 2, 2019. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to wait until 2021 to make his professional debut, doing so with the DSL Rangers 1. However, after just one game, he was moved to the ACL Rangers, where he went 2-2, 3.10 in 10 games.

In 2022, he made 21 starts in 22 appearances for the Down East Wood Ducks of the Carolina League, finishing at 7-6, 3.49, logging 108 1/3 innings and striking out 108 batters. After that excellent season, he fell back a bit in 2023, finishing with the same win-loss record but with an ERA of 6.29 in 25 games for the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League. He returned to Hickory to start the 2024 season, but this time, he did much better, going 6-3, 2.80 in 12 starts. That earned him a place on the American League team at the 2024 Futures Game as well as a promotion to the AA Frisco RoughRiders of the Texas League. He made another 10 starts there, going 5-3, 4.89. Overall on the season, his record was 11-6, 3.67 in 22 games - all starts - with 92 hits allowed in 110 1/3 innings, 34 walks and 138 strikeouts. Following the season, the Rangers added him to their 40-man roster.
