Wim Geestman Sr.

Biographical Information[edit]

Wim Geestman Sr. began pitching for Quick Amsterdam in 1938. Noted for his curveball, he also played with Ajax and Blauw-Wit in a career that lasted through 1953. He then was head coach of HVA and also coached for the Dutch national team and other teams. He also was on the Dutch korfball and basketball teams. He was on the Dutch national team but they did not play in any major events during his playing career, as they began playing in the European Championship in 1956. His sons Ruud Geestman and Tom Geestman played in the top Dutch league as well (it is unclear if Wim Jr. did or not) as did grandsons Rik Geestman and Kevin Geestman.
