Biographical Information[edit]
Tom Geestman pitched and coached in the Hoofdklasse. His father Wim Geestman Sr. was a top Dutch pitcher of the 1940s and Tom's sons Rik Geestman and Kevin Geestman played in the Hoofdklasse as did his brother Ruud Geestman.
Tom pitched for the Rap/Amsterdam Pirates and De Spartaan, spending seven years with the latter. He made his Hoofdklasse debut in 1981, going 1-for-14. He was later a coach for Kinheim (1989-1991). In 1990, at age 35, he made his Hoofdklasse pitching debut, for Kinheim; he was 1-0 with 3 games. He became head coach of the Amsterdam Pirates' minor league team in 1992 and then assistant coach for Haarlem Nicols in 1993-1994. He coached the Netherlands junior national team from 1998-2012, winning the European Junior Championship. He was pitching coach for the Amsterdam Pirates in 2008, when they won the 2008 Holland Series. He coached DSS in 2015 as well.
