Rik Geestman

Rik Geestman is the son of Tom Geestman and grandson of Wim Geestman Sr., both of whom played and coached in the Hoofdklasse. His brother Kevin Geestman and uncle Ruud Geestman also played in the Hoofdklasse.
Rik Geestman allowed one run in 5 2/3 IP for the Netherlands in the 2007 European Junior Championship. The same year, he debuted in the Hoofdklasse at age 18, allowing 4 hits in 9 at-bats and two runs in 1 2/3 IP for the Amsterdam Pirates. He allowed one hit in 10 AB in the 2008 Hoofdklasse with no runs in 2 2/3 IP. When he and Nick Urbanus both played in a game in April 2009, it marked the first time two third-generation Hoofdklasse players both were in the same contest. He threw in 14 games in 2009, going 1-1 with a save and a 3.70 ERA.
