Biographical Information

Willie Mitchell opposed Babe Ruth on the mound during Ruth's major league debut with the Boston Red Sox on July 11, 1914. Mitchell was pitching for the Cleveland Naps at the time. Willie did not allow an extra-base hit over his first four complete games, tied for the modern era record to begin a career.
