Wei Sun is an infielder who had been on the Chinese national team on and off for over a decade.

Sun debuted with the national team in 1998, playing in the 1998 Asian Games and 1998 Baseball World Cup. He hit .346/.346/.346 as their starting third baseman in the latter event. He next made an appearance in the 2002 Asian Games and 2002 World University Championship (.182/.208/.273 as the starting third sacker). He was in the 2003 Asian Championship. He had a busy time in 2006; after missing the World Baseball Classic, he played in the 2006 Asian Games, the Konami Cup and the 2006 Haarlem Baseball Week. In Haarlem, he hit .312/.353/.438 as China's top offensive threat. He played in the Konami Cup in 2007 and also went 1 for 14 with 6 strikeouts in the 2007 Arizona Fall League. He was with China as they host the 2008 Olympics as the team's elder statesman, batting .176/.167/.294 and fielding .882 at the hot corner.
