1998 Asian Games
The 1998 Asian Games were the second Asian Games to include baseball as a medal event. They were held in Bangkok, Thailand.
South Korea won Gold. Major leaguers Chan-ho Park, Jae Seo and Byung-hyun Kim were on the roster.
Japan won Silver. Shinnosuke Abe was on the team.
Chinese Taipei won Bronze. Future major leaguer Chin-Feng Chen was on the squad as well as NPB performers such as Chien-Fu Kuo Lee and Ming-Chieh Hsu. Ying-Chieh Kao managed Taiwan.
People's Republic of China was last. They included Wei Wang, who would be one of the first mainland Chinese players signed by a US team.
