Biographical Information[edit]

Vince Deyzel has pitched in the minors and for the South African national team.

Deyzel was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scout Tom Gillespie in 2015. [1] He was 0-3 with a save and a 5.29 ERA for the 2016 GCL Pirates then was 1-0 with 3 saves and a 5.46 ERA in a return engagement the next year. Moving up to the Bristol Pirates in 2017, he went 4-2 with a save and a 6.23 ERA. He had gone 5-5 with five saves and a 5.70 ERA in 46 games in the minors.

He started one game for South Africa in the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, against Spain. He allowed a leadoff single to Andrés Angulo then Engel Beltre hit into a double play. He walked Wander Encarnación and hit Jesús Ustariz but struck out Rusber Estrada to escape the inning. He yielded two runs in the second, though, and was replaced by Justin Erasmus; he took the loss to Pablo Guillén. [2]
