Biographical Information[edit]
Vince Barger was taken by the Cincinnati Reds in the 25th round of the 1981 amateur draft out of high school, one pick before Barry Lyons, then continued on to college. He won Bronze with Team USA in the 1983 Pan American Games and Silver in the 1983 Intercontinental Cup. [1] The Atlanta Braves took him in the 9th round of the 1984 amateur draft. He went 4-0 with a 0.39 ERA for the Anderson Braves in 1984, and he was 0-4 with a 3.77 ERA for the Durham Bulls that season. Barger then had a 8-8 record with a 5.20 ERA for Durham in 1985, and his professional career ended. He had gone 12-12 with a 4.18 ERA as a pro and had hit .286/.412/.357.
