Biographical Information

Tyler Kepner is a baseball writer and the author of a number of books about the sport.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he obtained a degree from Vanderbilt University, but had begun dabbling in sports journalism while still in high school, obtaining a press pass to cover the Philadelphia Phillies as a teenager. He became a beat writer covering the Anaheim Angels in 1997, then covered the Seattle Mariners for a year before moving to New York, NY in 2000 where he covered both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets for the New York Times, before becoming the newspaper's senior baseball writer in 2010. In 2023, he moved to The Athletic in a similar position.

Among his books on baseball are K: A History of Baseball in Ten Pitches (2019) and The Grandest Stage: A History of the World Series (2022).

In 2026, he served on the Hall of Fame's Veterans Committee.
