Biographical Information[edit]
Tristan Russell has been on the German national team.
Born in the US, he grew up in Germany, then returned to the US by high school. [1] In the 2018 U-15 Baseball World Cup, he started at short for Germany, going 1-for-15 with six walks and two runs, fielding .750. He tied for third with five errors. [2] He hit .222/.300/.333 in the 2021 U-18 European Championship. He handled 16 chances error-free and was among the assist leaders. [3] He also played in the 2022 U-18 European Championship, tying for third with four miscues but hitting much better at .440/.481/.640 with 9 runs, 5 doubles and 7 RBI in seven games. Only Viktor Hluchý had more runs, while Russell tied for the hit lead (11), tied Pierre Doat for the most doubles and tied for 4th in total bases. [4]
Redshirted as a college freshman [5], he was with Germany for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in early 2025. He debuted as a pinch-runner for Simon Bäumer in a 9-7 loss to Brazil and scored, staying in at DH. He struck out against Eric Pardinho. His other game, he pinch-hit for Shawn Larry in a loss to Colombia and struck out facing Yapson Gómez. [6]
