Biographical Information[edit]

Travis Anderson played in the minor leagues from 1999 to 2004, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by the Houston Astros in the 2nd round of the 1999 amateur draft—in the same round as Brandon Phillips and John Lackey, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Josh Pearce, and a few picks after pitcher Jack Taschner. He was signed by scout Daniel Huston.

He never posted a winning record and had respective ERAs of 5.22, 5.10, 5.72, 4.46, 3.55 and 7.25. He played in the Astros chain until 2002, when he was traded with fellow minor league pitcher Mike Nannini to the Chicago Cubs for veteran reliever Tom Gordon. He spent less than a full season in the Cubs chain before finishing up his career in the Colorado Rockies system. In 2000, he was second in the Midwest League in earned runs allowed with 81, behind Ty Howington's 83. The next year, his 89 earned runs allowed were second in the MWL, behind Jon Leicester's 90.

Overall, he went 24-37 with a 4.95 ERA in 169 games (74 starts). In 538 2/3 innings, he allowed 552 hits and 225 walks (1.442 WHIP), while striking out 423 batters.
