Biographical Information[edit]

Toshitake Yokoo played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Yokoo represented Japan in the 2011 Asia Junior Championship and 2015 Universiade. The Nippon Ham Fighters selected him in the 6th round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he went 2-for-17 in 2016. He starred in the minors that season, tying Seiya Inoue and Ryo Sakata for third in the Eastern League with 15 homers, finishing second in slugging (.485, .009 behind Kazuma Okamoto) and being 7th in RBI (53). He had a .239/.309/.418 batting line in a utility role in 2017, then he slumped to .207/.255/.358 with 9 homers in 74 games in 2018; he was the primary backup to 3B Brandon Laird and 1B Sho Nakata and also backed up at second and in the outfield. Yokoo struggled again in 2019 as his batting line was .188/.268/.300, then he played 40 games with a .252/.302/.327 batting line in 2020. The Fighters then traded him to the Rakuten Golden Eagles for Takahide Ikeda, and he hit .180/.254/.213 in 30 games in 2021. He never reached the big club again before he announced his retirement in 2023, and he became Rakuten's minor league batting coach in 2024.

Overall, Yokoo hit .211/.273/.331 with 144 hits and 21 homers in 6 seasons in NPB.
