Biographical Information[edit]

Toshimi Kubo played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years

Kubo signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1969, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He went 2-for-14 in 1972, but he was hitless in 29 at-bats in 64 games in 1973; he apparently was primarily a defensive sub at third. He went 1-for-5 in the 1975 Nippon Series with a single against Takashi Yamaguchi in Game 4, and the Carp lost to the Hankyu Braves in 6 games. Kubo slumped to .214/.292/.262 in 53 games in 1976, then the Carp traded him with Yukinobu Miyamoto and Kazushi Saeki to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Junzo Uchida, Katsuo Ukai, Yasuo Minagawa and Satoshi Niimi. Kubo batted .237/.260/.301 in 1977, and his batting line fell to .147/.194/.147 in 1978. He was 6-for-23 in 1979, and he announced his retirement
