Biographical Information

Katsuo Ukai was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the first round of the 1973 NPB draft, and he went 0-2 with a 10.20 ERA in 1974. He was 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 1975, and the Fighters traded him with Junzo Uchida, Yasuo Minagawa and Satoshi Niimi to the Hiroshima Carp for Toshimi Kubo, Yukinobu Miyamoto and Kazushi Saeki. Ukai never reached the big club again before he retired in 1977.
