Biographical Information[edit]
Yuta Yoshida played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.
Yoshida was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 2nd round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he played 50 games with a .220/.234/.285 batting line in 2014. He was Lotte's main backup catcher behind Tatsuhiro Tamura in 2015, and he hit .227/.287/.264 in 65 games that season. Yoshida was 0-for-30 in 2016, and he set the NPB record for most consecutive plate appearances without a hit as a batter with 35. He hit .170/.228/.340 in 61 games in 2017, and he went 1-for-10 in 2018. Yoshida had a 11-for-47 record in 2019, but he only got 9 more at-bats before he announced his retirement in 2022.
Overall, Yoshida hit .191/.240/.281 with 81 hits and 9 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
