Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Tony Sheffield played professionally from 1992 to 1998, peaking at High A. He was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the 2nd round of the 1992 amateur draft, one pick after future Hall of Famer Todd Helton and a few picks ahead of future MVP Jason Giambi.

In seven professional seasons, he hit .229/.305/.343 with 18 homers, 158 RBI and 44 steals. He remained in the Red Sox system through 1996, spending 1997 and 1998 with the Tennessee Tomahawks of the Heartland League.

His cousins, Justus Sheffield and Jordan Sheffield, played in the majors. He is of no relation to Gary Sheffield.
