Biographical Information[edit]

Tony Saunders was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with their first pick in the 1997 expansion draft, after playing in the 1997 World Series as a rookie with the Florida Marlins. In 1999 Saunders broke his arm while pitching against the Texas Rangers. While rehabbing the following year he once again broke his arm forcing him to retire.

In 2005 he attempted a comeback with the Baltimore Orioles and pitched in spring training. He was assigned to the AA Bowie BaySox but never appeared in a game.
