Biographical Information

Tomas Lopez has pitched for the Brazilian national team.

Lopez was Bay League MVP as a high school senior. He did not appear in a game as a college freshman then was 2-0 with a save and a 0.73 ERA as a sophomore, striking out 17 in 12 1/3 IP. He pitched for Brazil in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. In his lone appearance, he replaced Hugo Kanabushi in the 9th inning with a 8-5 deficit against Team USA and one aboard. He struck out Bobby Witt Jr. for his highlight of the tourney then yielded a RBI single to Bryce Harper and walked Aaron Judge, Kyle Schwarber and Alex Bregman to force in a run. Vitor Takahashi took over and let all three inherited runners score, saddling Lopez with a 108.00 ERA. He did not have the event's highest ERA as five hurlers had higher marks.
