Tom Letcher played briefly in the American Association, for the Milwaukee Brewers at the tail end of the 1891 season. An outfielder, he went 4 for 21 in 6 games. He had a long minor league career that lasted until 1912. While the time and location of his death were long unknown, it was suspected that he had died in Canada.

He managed in the minors in 1908 and 1910. His last trace was as an umpire in the Western Canada League in Saskatchewan for a brief stint in 1919. Researcher Justin McKinney managed to find his trace in Saskatchewan provincial records, confirming that he had indeed died there in 1928.
