Biographical Information[edit]
Submariner Teruo Tanaka played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years. His brothers Fumio Takechi and Kazuo Tanaka both played in NPB.
Tanaka signed with the Hankyu Braves in 1952 , but he only pitched one game combined in the first two seasons. He then went to the Tombo Unions, and he went 3-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 1955. Tanaka was 7-9 with a 3.23 ERA in 1956, and he had a 3-13 record with a 3.27 ERA in 1957. He tied Yoshimi Ebara and Takechi for 9th in losses in the Pacific League. He went to the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1958, and he had a 4.50 ERA in 23 games then he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tanaka was 13-26 with a 3.44 ERA, struck out 135 and pitched 466 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
