Biographical Information[edit]
Tatsuo Arai won two MVPs in his college career. He signed with the Daiei Stars in 1953, and he played 72 games with a .234/.298/.291 batting line in his first season. He recorded a .225/.283/.287 batting line in 1954, and he jumped to the Kintetsu Buffaloes. Arai hit .196/.227/.247 with 5 triples in 116 games in 1955, and he tied Itsuro Honda, Hideshi Miyake and Jun Hakota for 5th in triples in the Central League. However, he had a severe shoulder injury so he announced his retirement.
Overall, Arai hit .212/.258/.267 with 139 hits in 3 seasons in NPB.
