Biographical Information[edit]

Tatsuhiko Ito played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 13 years.

Ito signed with the Chunichi Dragons in 1959, and he led the NPB Farm Leagues in RBI in his first season. He was 5-for-16 for the top team that season, and he went 5-for-27 in 1960. Ito hit .215/.250/.354 in 1961, and he secured the starting left fielder spot in 1962. Ito recorded a .249/.283/.335 batting line with 4 homers that season, and he played 123 games with a .264/.305/.314 batting line in 1963. When Masuho Maeda left the team, Ito was moved to third base and he collected 15 doubles with a .262/.292/.337 batting line in 1964.

The Nagoya native recorded a .222/.245/.275 batting line in 1965, then he slumped to .152/.179/.210 in 1966. Ito then batted .236/.264/.305 in 1967, and he crushed a career-high 10 homers with a .227/.274/.353 batting line in 1968. He struggled again in 1969 as his batting line fell to .164/.234/.233, and he went 9-for-51 in 1970. The Dragons then traded him to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Yasuo Kawauchi, but he was 10-for-50 in 1971 and he retired. Ito then became a scout for the Buffaloes.

Overall, Ito hit .230/.265/.312 with 546 hits and 33 homers in 13 seasons in NPB.
