Biographical Information

Takuma Achira was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 4th round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He was 7-3 with a 1.51 ERA in the minors in 2016, and he pitched 13 games with a 2.51 ERA for the big club. Achira extended his dominance in the minors in 2017, and he was 9-3 with a 2.10 ERA. He won the ERA title of the Western League, and he was 2nd in wins (1 behind Hiroki Yamada) and 3rd in strikeouts (between Nobuyoshi Yamada and Yuya Fukui). Achira had a 4.85 ERA in 4 games for the top team, but he then suffered from a right shoulder injury so he didn't reach the big club in 2018. He went 1-3 with a 5.82 ERA in 2019, and he announced his retirement.
