Biographical Information[edit]
Taketoshi Yoshihara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Yoshihara signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1956, and he went 6-3 with a 2.13 ERA in his first season. He completed 2 shutout innings to get the win over Sadao Nishimura in the 1956 Nippon Series Game 5, then he gave up a single to Kazuhisa Inao in Game 6. The Giants lost to the Nishitetsu Lions in 6 games. Yoshihara was 7-3 with a 1.46 ERA in 1957, and he allowed 2 runs including a homer to Yasumitsu Toyoda in 5 innings as the starter of the 1957 Nippon Series Game 1. He surrendered 3 runs with a 2-run shot to Hiroshi Oshita in Game 3, and Inao got the win over him. Yoshihara then gave up a 3-run homer to Hiromi Wada in Game 5, and the Lions beat the Giants again.
The Shimane native was 7-5 with a 2.67 ERA in 1958, and he pitched an inning with a home run allowed to Toyoda in the 1958 Nippon Series Game 4. He gave up a unearned run in 3 innings in Game 7, and the Giants lost to the Lions again. Yoshihara improved to 10-4 with a 1.83 ERA in 1959, and he started against the Nankai Hawks in the 1959 Nippon Series Game 1. However, Yoshihara allowed 5 runs in 1/3 of an inning, and Tadashi Sugiura got the win over him. He pitched 1/3 of a shutout inning in Game 3, then he gave up a game-winning RBI double to Yosuke Terada in Game 3. The Hawks swept the Giants. Yoshihara was 2-6 with a 2.37 ERA in 1960, and he had a 1.60 ERA in 21 games in 1961. The Giants then released him, and he went to the Kintetsu Buffaloes. He pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings in 1962, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Yoshihara was 33-23 with a 2.05 ERA, struck out 355 and pitched 583 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
