Biographical Information[edit]
Takeshi Kanazawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Kanazawa was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 6th round of the 2002 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first five seasons. When Tomoya Satozaki was injured in 2008, Kanazawa got some chances and he hit .273/.319/.364 in 15 games. He returned to the minors after Satozaki recovered, and he only got 8 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. Kanazawa was 2-for-28 in 2011, and he had a 4-for-16 record in 2012. He replaced Satozaki and became one of Chiba Lotte's main catchers (splitting time with Naoya Emura) in 2013, and he played 56 games with a .198/.277/.236 batting line. Kanazawa hit .299/.351/.391 in 42 games in 2014, and he was 6-for-32 in 2016. He only got 9 more at-bats for the big club, and he announced his retirement in 2018. Kanazawa later became the minor league battery coach for the Marines from 2019 to 2022, and he coached their top team from 2023 to 2024.
Overall, Kanazawa hit .230/.290/.285 with 76 hits in 10 seasons in NPB.
