Biographical Information[edit]
Takeshi Aono played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Aono was drafted by the Chiba Lotte Marines in the 5th round of the 2000 NPB draft, and he spent his first five seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He crushed his first career homer, a grand slam, against Takumi Nasuno on June 14, 2006. Aono then crushed another grand slam against Keisaburo Tanoue on July 1, and he was the first player in NPB history whose first two homers were both grand slams. Aono ended up hitting .275/.313/.473 in '06, and he played 76 games with a .247/.284/.412 batting line in 2007. However, Aono suffered from a shoulder injury, and he only got 36 at-bats combined before he announced his retirement in 2013. He was an assistant coach for Shonan High School from 2014 to 2022.
Overall, Aono hit .247/.289/.418 with 117 hits and 17 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
