Biographical Information[edit]
Takahiro Oba was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the first round of the first 1966 NPB draft, but he only pitched 6 games combined for the big club before the Dragons released him in 1970. He then signed with the Kintetsu Buffaloes, and his ERA was 6.75 in 8 games in 1971. Oba allowed 13 runs in 8 2/3 innings in 1972, and he pitched 11 games with a 3.60 ERA in 1973. He spent his next two years in the minor league, and the Buffaloes released him in 1975. The Nankai Hawks picked him up, but Oba still couldn't return to the top team and he retired in 1977. He later coached the minor league team of the Hawks from 1977 to 1985.
