Biographical Information

Taisei Urushihara has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Urushihara was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the first round of the development phase in the 2018 NPB draft, and he spent his first season in the NPB Farm Leagues. He saved 23 games, easily leading the Western League, 15 ahead of #2 Yukiya Saito. He pitched for the Atenienses de Manati in the winter, and he notched 3 saves with a 0.77 ERA in 13 games. He tied Nicholas Padilla and Layne Henderson for 5th in the Puerto Rican League in saves. Urushihara notched 5 holds and 2 saves with a 3.42 ERA in 22 games in 2020, then he recorded a 3.03 ERA in 34 appearances with 4 holds in 2021. He was placed in the minors for the entire 2022 season, then he pitched 16 games with a 3.00 ERA in 2023. The Hanshin Tigers selected him in the 2023 NPB Active draft, and he got 5 holds with a 3.89 ERA in 38 games in 2024.
