Biographical Information[edit]

Tadao Tominaga played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 11 years.

Tominaga signed with the Toei Flyers in 1956, and he went 11-9 with a 2.97 ERA in his first season. He was 10th in strikeouts in the Pacific League, between Yoshinobu Uemura and Takumi Nomo. Tominaga then went 6-15 with a 3.59 ERA in 1957, and he was 8th in losses (6 behind Masayoshi Miura). He slumped to 0-1 with a 5.87 ERA in 1958, and he was 3-3 with a 3.70 ERA in 1959. Tominaga only pitched 3 games in 1960, and he bounced back with a 8-10 record and a 2.56 ERA in 1961. He was 8-6 with a 2.39 ERA in 1962, and he allowed 3 runs including a homer to Katsumi Fujimoto in 4 1/3 innings in the 1962 Nippon Series Game 2. He pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings in Game 3, and he completed 1/3 of a shutout inning in Game 5. The Flyers beat the Hanshin Tigers in 7 games. However, Tominaga's ERA rose to 5.00 in 17 games in 1963, and he had a 2.57 ERA in 22 appearances in 1964. He allowed 5 runs in 8 innings in 1965, and the Flyers sent him to the Sankei Atoms for nothing. Tominaga had a 9.00 ERA in 5 games in 1966, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Tominaga was 38-48 with a 3.19 ERA, struck out 604 and pitched 838 1/3 innings in 11 seasons in NPB.
