Biographical Information[edit]
Takumi Nomo played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Nomo signed with the Nankai Hawks in 1954, and he went 6-4 with a 3.03 ERA in his first season. He was 5-5 with a 3.55 ERA in 1955, and he pitched a shutout inning in the 1955 Nippon Series Game 5. The Hawks lost to the Yomiuri Giants in 7 games. Nomo improved to 14-6 with a 2.18 ERA in 1956, and he went 8-11 with a 2.63 ERA in 1957. He had a 8-5 record with a 3.45 ERA in 1958, and he recorded a 3.82 ERA in 20 appearances in 1959. However, Nomo's ERA was 6.00 in 8 games in 1960, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Nomo was 42-33 with a 2.74 ERA, struck out 439 and pitched 747 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
