Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Steve Sadecki played in the minor leagues from 1991 to 1995. Though he reached Triple-A for parts of two seasons, he never ascended to the majors.

He was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 6th round of the 1991 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher Jose Silva. He was signed by scouts Jim Dreyer and Doug Gassaway. With the Gastonia Rangers in 1991, he went 4-4 with a 3.46 ERA in 16 starts. In 1992, he was 9-10 with a 2.81 ERA in 37 games (15 starts) between Gastonia and the Port Charlotte Rangers, and in 1993, he was 3-6 with a 3.76 ERA in 45 games (2 starts) between three teams. He reached Triple-A for the first time that year, going 0-3 with a 7.08 ERA in 20 1/3 innings for the Oklahoma City 89ers. Between the Tulsa Drillers and 89ers in 1994, he went 9-2 with a 3.05 ERA in 41 games (1 start). He joined the independent Lubbock Crickets of the Texas-Louisiana League for 1995, going 4-12 with a 5.76 ERA in 22 games (18 starts). He was second in the league in losses, behind Earl Steinmetz's 13.

Overall, Sadecki went 29-34 with a 3.79 ERA in 161 games (52 starts). In 466 innings, he allowed 461 hits and 211 walks (1.442 WHIP), while striking out 321 batters. At Triple-A, he was 3-3 with a 6.00 ERA in 19 games (2 starts).

His father, Ray Sadecki, played in the major leagues from 1960 to 1977.
