Biographical Information[edit]
Shota Masui has pitched for the Japanese national team.
Masui played for Toyota in the industrial leagues after college, and he represented Japan in the 2025 Asian Championship. He fanned 7 in 5 innings with only a run allowed against the Philippines, and he got the win over Junmar Diarao. He was named the starter against South Korea, and he pitched 5 innings again with 4 strikeouts and a RBI single allowed to Hyun-jun Ryu in a 1-0 loss. Japan beat Taiwan to win Gold, and he was named the All-Star starting pitcher, beating out MVP Kazuki Kondo.[1] The Yakult Swallows picked him in the 4th round of the 2025 NPB draft, and he debut on April 12 against the Yomiuri Giants.
