Biographical Information

Shota Masui has pitched for the Japanese national team.

Masui played for Toyota in the industrial leagues after college, and he represented Japan in the 2025 Asian Championship. He fanned 7 in 5 innings with only a run allowed against the Philippines, and he got the win over Junmar Diarao. He was named the starter against South Korea, and he pitched 5 innings again with 4 strikeouts and a RBI single allowed to Hyun-jun Ryu in a 1-0 loss. Japan beat Taiwan to win Gold, and he was named the All-Star starting pitcher, beating out MVP Kazuki Kondo. The Yakult Swallows picked him in the 4th round of the 2025 NPB draft, and he debut on April 12 against the Yomiuri Giants.
