Biographical Information[edit]
Shosei Nakamura has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Nakamura was a star in the 2017 Summer Koshien. He crushed 6 homers to break Kazuhiro Kiyohara's Koshien record for most homers in a tournament, and he also set the record for most hits, RBI, total bases and doubles. He represented Japan in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, but he was just 3-for-25 with 6 walks, two runs, no RBI and no extra-base hits for the Bronze Medalists. The Chunichi Dragons and Hiroshima Carp selected him in the first round of the 2017 NPB draft, and the Carp won the lottery for the rights to him; the scout was Yoshihisa Shiratake. Nakamura hit .201/.257/.299 with 4 homers in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2018, and he improved to .279/.330/.394 in 2019.
The Hiroshima native played 55 games with a .244/.337/.335 batting line in the minors in 2020, and he made his NPB debut on July 5; he was 0-for-4 that season. Nakamura crushed 2 homers with a .283/.377/.453 batting line in 61 plate appearances as a backup OF/C in 2021 (his first hit was off Hiroshi Suzuki and his first homer off Kenta Ishida), but he struggled in 2022 as he went 11-for-57. He was 3-for-20 in 2023, and he hit .145/.157/.174 in 30 games in 2024.
