Biographical Information[edit]
Shoichi Shimanuki signed with the Yomiuri Giants in 1979, and he stayed in the minors in his first two seasons. He hit .263/.333/.434 in 84 plate appearances over 60 games in 1982, and he was 6-for-22 in 1983. Shimanuki led the Eastern League in homers in 1984, and the Giants traded him to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Motokuni Sano. However, the outfielder didn't reach the top team again, and he announced his retirement in 1985.
