Biographical Information[edit]
Shogo Mori played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Mori was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 1997 NPB draft, and he was 6-for-32 in 2001 after staying in the NPB Farm Leagues for three seasons. He crushed his first homer against Takahito Nomura on May 1, and he was the first position player in Central League to hit a homer in the first pitch of his first at-bat. Coincidently, the first CL player to accomplish it was pitcher Kozo Mori, and no other CL player did it after Mori as of 2024. He went 15-for-77 in 2002, and he was placed in the minors for the entire 2003 season. Mori went 7-for-32 in 2004, and he was 1-for-11 in the 2004 Nippon Series; the Dragons lost to the Seibu Lions in 7 games. Mori was then traded to the Nippon Ham Fighters for cash, but he failed to return to the big club before he announced his retirement in 2006. He coached the Aichi Dione of the Japan Women's Baseball League in 2018.
Overall, Mori hit .207/.272/.356 with 28 hits in 3 seasons in NPB.
