Biographical Information[edit]

Kozo Mori played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Mori signed with the Hiroshima Carp in 1979, and he spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He had a 5.06 ERA in 4 appearances in 1982, and his ERA was 5.59 in 7 relief outings in 1983. Mori crushed a homer in the first pitch of his first at-bat on May 30, 1984 against Daisuke Araki, and he was the first Central League player to do so. He recorded a 5.75 ERA in 14 appearances in '84, and the Carp traded him to the Hankyu Braves for Masahiko Kakoi in 1986. Mori notched 3 saves with a 2.51 ERA in 36 appearances in 1987, but his ERA rose to 8.56 in 9 games in 1988. He had a 5.11 ERA in 8 games in 1989, and he was released. The Daiei Hawks picked him up, but Mori failed to return to the big club and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Mori went 5-2 with a 4.24 ERA, struck out 99 and pitched 129 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
