Biographical Information

Sherman Lacrus played in the minor leagues. He is the brother of Shair Lacrus.

He played for Willemstad in the 2006 Little League World Series. He hit .373 with a .486 as a junior college freshman. The New York Yankees took him in the 40th round of the 2012 amateur draft, one pick before Eric Hanhold. He improved to .380/.503/.715 as a sophomore, finishing 8th in NJCAA Division II in slugging. The Texas Rangers chose him in the 27th round of the 2013 amateur draft, one pick after Donnie Hart. The scout was Jay Eddings.

Lacrus hit .330/.440/.413 with 36 runs in 54 games for the 2013 DSL Rangers, playing mostly left field and not making an error there. Coming stateside, he batted .263/.366/.408 for the AZL Rangers and fielded .985 at catcher. He led the team in RBI. He was named the Arizona League All-Star catcher. He split 2015 between the Spokane Indians (.258/.343/.359 in 57 G) and Frisco RoughRiders (1 for 11, 3B, 2 R, RBI). He tied C.J. Hinojosa for 6th in the Northwest League with 18 doubles. Moving back to the outfield in 2016, he slipped to .231/.298/.320 for the Hickory Crawdads. He had batted .268/.360/.372 in 214 games as a pro, with 38 doubles and 104 runs.

He was 0 for 4 for Curaçao in the 2017 World Port Tournament. In the first Caribbean Baseball Cup, he and his brother were on Curaçao's team. He hit .273/.429/.273 with 4 runs in 4 games; his 3 steals were one behind co-leaders Jahmoi Percival, David Nicholas and Mark Franklin. He batted .423/.483/.500 in the 2019 World Port Tournament. He was 4th in average (between Nick DiBenedetto and Darryl George), 7th in slugging (between Denzel Richardson and Gianfranco Morello), 4th in OBP (between Ryoma Nagashima and Alex Rodriguez), 3rd in hits (11, trailing Ryuma Seki and Nagashima) and tied Richardson for 4th with 13 total bases.

The 2021 Caribbean Baseball Cup reports appear mixed-up, as they show Shair Lacrus batting (.200/.478/.200, 6 BB, 6 R in 5 G, tying for 6th in runs and tying for 3rd in walks, behind Darren Seferina and Pavel Quesada) and Sherman Lacrus pitching (0 R in 1 1/3 IP) whereas Shair has been the pitcher and Sherman is the batter. As they both could show up as Sh. Lacrus in a box score, this seems like a plausible confusion He was 2-for-14 with a walk, hit-by-pitch and run in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week.
