Biographical Information[edit]

Sebastian Holzer has been on the Austrian national team.

In the 2024 U-18 European Championship, he was 5 for 9 with a walk, double, run and 3 RBI and was 1-0 with a 4.94 ERA, beating Croatia for one of Austria's two wins. He led the team in OPS as well. [1] Debuting in the Austrian Bundesliga in 2025, he had a save and a 5.93 ERA for the Traiskirchen Grasshoppers, hitting .119/.140/.214. [2] Austria's youngest player in the 2025 European Championship, he made two appearances. He debuted by relieving a player who was with Austria before Holzer was born, back in the 2007 Euros, Christian Tomsich. He took over in the 4th with a 7-2 lead, two on and one out against Belgium and promptly got Benjamin Goffaux to hit into a force and Drew Janssen on a grounder. In the 5th, he whiffed former minor leaguer Thomas De Wolf, walked Robin Roevens, K'd Steven De Lannoy and got Dennis De Quint on a fly. Nico Schadler then took over and Holzer got the win. His other appearance came in the 9th/10th place game versus Sweden. He replaced Eoghan McGarry in the 7th with a 2-1 lead but walked Oskar Jerfsten on four pitches. Peter Johannessen flew out while a passed ball advanced the runner then Benjamin Johnson hit a tying single. After he hit Jakob Lindkvist, Vitus Gneist took over and escaped the jam; Austria won for their best finish to that point in a European Championship. [3]
